this explains what information i collect when you use this website, why, and what you can ask me to do with it. in plain english, no small print tricks.

who i am

laura’s business hotline is run by laura stansfield, trading as laura’s business hotline, based in nottinghamshire, uk. i’m the “data controller”, which means i’m responsible for your information.

what i collect

when you book a free call: your name, email, business or website, what you’d like to chat about and any notes you add.
when you ask for a free website audit or join my emails: your first name, email and website address.
when you send a message through the contact form, whatsapp or email: your name, contact details and what you tell me.
when you buy the party line or pay for a service: your name, email, billing address and order details. card payments are handled by shopify; i never see or store your card number.
when you join the party line: your phone number for the whatsapp group, and anything you share on the calls or in the group.
when you browse the site: basic information from cookies, like which pages you visited. see “cookies” below.

why i use it

to run the calls, courses and services you’ve booked (to perform our contract).
to send your free audit and my weekly emails, if you’ve asked for them (your consent). every email has an unsubscribe link.
to reply to your messages and follow up on enquiries (my legitimate interest in running my business).
to keep records for tax and accounting (legal obligation).

who i share it with

only the services i use to run the business, and only what they need:

shopify (website, checkout and payments)
omnisend (emails and the free audit)
easy appointment booking, a shopify app (free call bookings)
google meet (video calls)
whatsapp (the party line group chat)

i never sell your information. some of these services store data outside the uk; they use approved safeguards to protect it.

how long i keep it

enquiries and free call bookings: up to 12 months if we don’t go on to work together.
email list: until you unsubscribe.
clients and orders: 6 years, because hmrc says so.

your rights

you can ask me to see, correct, delete or stop using your information, or to send it to you. just email me and i’ll reply within one month.

if you’re not happy with how i’ve handled your data, you can complain to the information commissioner’s office (ico) at ico.org.uk.

cookies

this site uses cookies that shopify needs to work (like remembering your basket), plus google analytics and the meta pixel, which help me see how the site is used and show my ads to the right people on facebook and instagram. these only run if you say yes. you can accept or turn off non-essential cookies in the cookie banner.

if i change this policy, i’ll update the date at the top.
